How to Install Garmin Mobile XT Ver 20 On Your N95 / N95 8gb

Source: Nokia forums
Installation procedure for V20 of the Garmin Mobile XT.
Files that are required for complete installation are as follows:-
1. GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_42020
(These are zip files so please do not extract them, it is part of the setup procedure to do that)
2. GarminMobileXTSupportFils_4xxxx
3. GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx
4. Garmin_kgen Ver1.5
5. SCGRv17
6. GarminUnlockerAutomatic
7. POIloaderforwindows_252
There are other files included in the download like POI and Uk Speed Camera etc, etc,
however the files named above will get your Mobile XT on your phone and working with Internal GPS.
and can be found Here Garmin Install Files
Click the N95 Applications and you will see a list of available downloads,
look for the Garmin Mobile Install Files. Once found download them to your PC.
You will need to extract the files to a folder on your computer,
please name it Garmin (so you know where the files have gone and for easy access).
Firstly make sure you have enough space on your Memory card(N95) or phone Memory(N95/8gb)
We shall start with the Main Program and then sort the mapping out.
Installation of Mobile XT.
You can do this with a Card Reader or straight to your phone,
I prefer straight to your phone cos it saves removing memory card.
Connect Phone to PC using DKE-2 cable and make sure you select Data Transfer. Navigate to your Garmin folder on PC and double click this file GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_42020.
The zip manager will run and you will need to click setup to commence, once it has started unzipping the program will start and you will see a blue Garmin Install Screen like one show here…
Select Removable Media D\ and then click on Install, once that has happened it will install files direct to your N95 memory card and create a Garmin Folder on your phone.
Once completed you will need to do the same for these files GarminMobileXTSupportFils_4xxxx GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx
Then when you have completed installation of all 3 files. remove your phone from the computer, you will get the warning about removing cable before so just accept that message, your phone will now lauch Garmin Mobile XT select Yes,at this stage you can check to see if it works ok and is running. And carryout the following
Set Selections if prompted (use jog left or right to select)
Text Language, English (No Zulu), next
Voice language, English, next
Units, Metric, next
Online Access, Prompted, OK
Read message and select ‘I Agree’
Make sure you cancel the searching of satellites, cos you havent cracked the internal GPS setup yet. Once your happy with this you can exit program and then move on to the next stage.
Double Click Garmin_kgen and it will start the keygen program and should look like this
Start Garmin Mobile XT on your phone
Now on the display select (Jog to) ‘Settings’
Jog down and right to ‘About’ (next display)
Write down the no. displayed at ‘Card Id:xxxxxxxxxx’
Go ‘Back’ and again ‘Exit’ and enter at ‘Yes’ to exit the Garmin XT program
Plug in the USB cable on N95/PC and select data transfer again
Open My Computer and browse to the Garmin folder in the N95 memory card directory
Garmin Mobile XT folders can be seen.
Open Notepad text editor on desktop and keep handy
Using the k e y g e n “garmin_kgen.exe’ (blue ball icon), and enter the “Card ID” you wrote down earlier from the Garmin Mobile XT About page at the input line where requested.
Press the top ‘Generate’ key to generate a device unlock code.
Highlight and copy to clipboard the generated “device unlock code” and paste it into the already open notepad text document.
Use ‘File-> ‘Save As‘ and select ‘Save as type‘ All Files to save the file as file name SW.UNL on desktop or preferred folder of choice. As shown above.
Move the SW.UNL file to the N95 memory card under “Garmin” folder if it was not saved directly to N95 Garmin Directory.
(If you do not save the file using type All Files then the file is saved as a .txt type file and it won’t work unless the .txt extension is removed by renaming)
At this point if all is done correctly then the procedure can be halted and the program tested for functionality. The program should now be functional using the World base map but no detailed maps are loaded as yet.
Remove the USB cable from phone. After the usual complaint about incorrect stopping then do nothing because as the N95 memory returns for normal use (or sd card is placed in phone) the Garmin Auto start function will prompt you if you want to run Garmin Mobile XT. If nothing happens in a minute or so then start the program from within Applications.
On the prompt “Garmin Mobile XT detected Launch now?‘ select Yes to start. Program will launch and you must agree to Warning text as shown.
Cancel GPS search
Jog to settings -> system -> Remote GPS (first top choice). Press enter key. Now there should be two choices
1) Use Bluetooth GPS and
2) Use Attached/Built-in GPS.
Jog to second choice 2) Use Attached/Built-in GPS and press ‘Enable’.
If there is no choices and only a “pair new GPS” selection then you have a problem, either with the SW.UNL file (maybe with .txt extension or other) or incorrect/key gen procedure install. Recheck and/or redo above. Check Card Id. If you regenerate the Device code will change. If you have to change the Card ID the SW.UNL file must be edited to a new generated code.
If the second choice is enabled it will search for GPS. If it cannot find the GPS at this stage when searching it could be a weak signal. Just give it a few minutes and/or move to a better GPS signal area, like outside. Also try exiting the software and re-enter as above as it would a search for the GPS at entry. Either wait or cancel and then enter again to settings -> system -> Remote GPS (first top choice). It will search and if the GPS is found will show a ‘GPS information’ page with bars indicating signal strength, the device Id: and ‘Assisted GPS’ with ‘disable’ or ‘done’ selections at bottom. If you disable you are back at choices as above and on enable the GPS info page starts promptly
Press ‘Done‘ and again ‘Back‘ twice.
The option ‘View map’ could be now entered and the World map (Europe) can be seen (If the GPS is found the map will auto-zoom to higher detail). Remember no detailed maps are loaded as YET. Press the right top function key to return to main menu and jog to Exit”.
Installing the Maps
To install mapping on to your N95, you will firstly need to get the mapping. depending on where you are from. I have succefully downloaded various mappings from torrent website’s using Azureus as my downloader, you may have a different one like utorrent etc…
To get the mapping if you search for in Iso Hunt or use the Click Here option next to each mapping below
Garmin City Navigator Australia
Garmin City Navigator Middle East 2008 Click Here
Garmin City Navigator Europe V9
Garmin City Navigator New Zealand Click Here
Garmin City Navigator Taiwan V8 Click Here
Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2008
Garmin City Navigator Mexico NT 2008 Click Here
Garmin City Navigator………(country eg Europe), you will see where they are hosted..
Dont worry about the keygen cos you will not need it by doing this procedure.
Once you have some mapping, you will need to install it on your computer by clicking the setup.exe that came with your mapping, do this for all your mapping you require, so when you eventually open up the main program you will have every map set you have downloaded and installed, these will install into root of C:\
Before you proceed to upload mapping to your phone, they are required to be unlocked…included in the download was GarminUnlockerAutomatic. With in this rar file there should be 2 files..
1. All.bat
2. GarminUnlocker.exe
both these files need to be placed in C:\Garmin, which should be the folder where your mapping was installed to, place in the root directory of C:\garmin, once in place all that is needed is to run the all.bat file and you will see all your mapping that you have installed on your PC be unlocked..
You will need to reconnect your phone at this point and select Data Transfer.
Start your mapping program and click next
you should see then that it has found your Garmin Device (i.e your N95), if this is greyed out you will not be able to proceed to next bit. So will need to refresh in order for it to detect your phone.
Click next and you should be presented with a grid and what ever mapping you have as default selection
if you want to change your mapping then look in the bottom left corner and you can where you can select other map sets.
Striaght forward now is to select which piece of the map sheet you require, it should highlight yellow and then go pink when selected, you should be able to see aswell how much space this will take on your phone in the right hand side.
Once you are happy, you can then click next and it will start to build up the file and then upload it to your phone.
Once uploaded, disconnect your phone and restart Garmin Mobile XT Ver 20, Go outside and check that you can:
1. Get GPS Fix
2. Get Position
3. Zoom in by pressing Key 3 and checking that where you are corresponds to that on the map.

I followed the guide on my N95-8gb.
Worked like a charm.
Thanks!!

Ok, when on the “Cracking the GPS” section when you said:
“Now on the display select (Jog to) ‘Settings’
Jog down and right to ‘About’ (next display)
Write down the no. displayed at ‘Card Id:xxxxxxxxxx’”
I did anything that says “About” nor did I see any Card ID number. The only thing I see is:
“1. Backlight Override - On When Navigating
2. Text - English
3. Font Size - Medium
4. Color Mode - Auto”
Somehow, I’m unable to get to the screen that you’re referring to. Also when you say “Jog To”, what exactly does it mean? By the way, if this is any help at all, I have a Nokia N95-3 (North American Model, non-8GB) and the firmware version is 20.2.011. I’m currently with AT&T Pay-As-You-Go plan (no data plan included). I’ve been trying for months to get it to work, but have been unsuccessful. So far, the only real problem I’m getting is obtaining the Card ID number as I followed other tutorial and end up getting stuck at the Card ID section. Please let me know as I’m planning a trip soon. Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.

September 27th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Were Jog is mentioned it means scroll to:
To get your Card id!!
Start up Garmin go to Options->About
and your Card id will be listed in the middle of the screen.
you are in the wrong selection if you see
1. Backlight Override - On When Navigating
2. Text - English
3. Font Size - Medium
4. Color Mode - Auto
if you install the software and it dosnt work..
use the phones in built software uninstaller to remove it or you can try using the nokia pc suite software to browse the files on the phone and delete any reference to garmin, from the phones memory and the actual memory card its self.
hope this helps you guys out, it dose work!!
my nokia is the basic N95 model and it works a treat with little hassle.

Hi,
Following the instructions, I install via a cable:
GarminMobileXTforSymbianS603rdEdition_42020
GarminMobileXTSupportFils_4xxxx
GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx
I remove the cable but nothing happens so I go into app mgr and install Garmin. Once installed, I click on the Garmin icon in Apps. The black Garmin splash shows then it bombs out.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
October 18th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Hi Jack, well ok after the install from the pc there should be no reason to install from app mgr..
best thing to do is remove garmin from with the app mgr, then repeat the process from the pc, once you run the install files from the pc and install to the mem card it should load up its self after you remove the cable and wait till your memory card is recognized then it will ask if you want to launch…
after launch get your card id and continue with the remaining steps..
hopes this helps a bit..

Hi thanks for a great help on installing garmin xt on my n95 basic model but i’m having terrible trouble finding europe maps for download for free can they be found for free could you help me thanks a lot.
October 19th, 2008 at 1:17 am
hey guys after doing the installation and i told you all that i was gonna go out and test it i never had a time getting online and tell you guys how happy i am, it just works great i am the happiest person with my n95-2 right now and ohh yeah may be u wanna consider buying a car cradle if you have a old skool car like mine and who would better go with the all in one device like n95, seriously marty been relly thank full to you,
i had a quick question garmin came out with their north american version of 2009 maps hwo do i go about getting that uploaded? do i need to delete the 2008nt and install the 2009nt or its just gonna happen magically when i hit the finish button after cracking the 2009nt like i did to the 2008nt,
i dont know why but i think i confused with my question above what i was asking was will the 2009nt replace the 2008nt when i hit the install button?
hey johnb55:
try http://www.torrentz.com/search?q=garmin+europe+maps+nt
they have 3 different ones in there i dunno which one is going to work so you might wanna give it a try one by one coz thats where i got my maps at but you need to have a torrent client as marty said i use Azureus(vuze) which i like the best of all.
hey marty will be waiting for your answers about upgrading to 2009nt
October 19th, 2008 at 1:39 am
hey ashish
ok well my friend did this very same update..
i can tell you!” that he did re-name the map install to (_old) then he input the new maps to the dir on the old garmin install..
he did try the new maps. BUT… the maps would load but the detail maps wouldn’t work, BUT, when he input a destination to go to, it would load and he could see the maps etc…
but when he pressed 3 to zoom into the the detail map it wouldn’t load! so im assuming that it may need to be unlocked before usage continues.. but ill have to confirm this,, im still to upgrade to Firmware version 30.0.0.15 like him.. once i do and install the new map structure ill report back..
I’m sure this may be of help to some of you guys..
the best thing i may suggest is to upgrade your firmware to the latest version and try the new Europe 2009 map structure it seems to work for a few people i know…
once i get the down-low on how they did this, either hack or special install ill get it on the site..
October 19th, 2008 at 5:10 am
thx man that is was very good .
October 19th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
@johnb55 - try this..
Ok as a result of all the people having trouble with the UK map install, i thought i would go all out and get the files uploaded myself.
the link below is to the UK map files which im currently using which is from version 10 of garmin.
inside this rar file you will find the map file and the UNL file all you will have to do is change the UNL file to match your card id, so open the garmin keygen, insert your card id get the output paste this onto the UNL file and copy over both files to the root of your garmin install..
ie: /memcard/Garmin/ -put the files here
Once its over start up garmin, once its booted up, it will ask you about your maps which you have just copied over, it will want the 25 character code to unlock these..
using the Garmin key gen generate a map code input this to the phone and it will unlock,, Granted this is the older map files, but after some searching my self i couldn’t find anything but the Europe install.

October 19th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
yeah i have already intalled the v30 buti think i am going to wait still it would have been really nice if i just install the 2009 it will automatically replace the 2008

October 21st, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Hi Marty
I’m running Nokia Software V20, I used Garmin XT V14, I think it was. Any way, got the new V20 XT, installed as above, with 2008 Europe maps. But it would not open, I’d start XT, but before it went to the ‘I Agree’ screen, it would just go back to the Phone desk top… When installing my earlier version of XT, I had to delete a file from the Garmin file called, ‘Garmindevice.XML’, it turned out this file was present with V20, I deleted this and it work great. But!! this ‘XML’ file keeps coming back, but does not stop it working, unless I switch the phone off and on, then I have to delete it again to get it working. Can I delete this file permanently?? I’ve put this onto 1 of my friends N95, with exactly the same result. During installation, I was never prompted to install XT, I always had to Manually install it. Not a problem just for your info…. many thanks.
October 21st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Marty, many thanks for an excellent tutorial
a small remark for folks trying to upload the UK maps as suggested above: do not choose map product from the list in kgen (it didn’t work on my n95), try custom map id: 197
everything seems to be fine except my internal gps is worthless, maybe I’ll try a new firmware or get an external bluetooth receiver - it’d be more reliable anyway. cheers!
October 23rd, 2008 at 4:15 pm

October 23rd, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Hi Vicky,
there are links in the article to various downloads for the maps, these include the detailed maps…
you could try a search on, http://www.isohunt.com
for Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2008
this will have all the maps and street level references you’ll need, once you get it just follow the steps above to patch your map, or use the keygen,
October 25th, 2008 at 6:21 am
bloody beutifull mate. took me 3 goes bout i did it. the reason i had a strugle is because the maps for australia didnt have all.bat and garminautomaticunlock.exe, so i had to download them from another site.
after this it got to the agreement at the start and it wouldnt go into the main, so i looked at the c:\garmin and destroyed the xml file like said above. it works a treat.
thank you
October 27th, 2008 at 1:07 am

oh! another thing marty..do u have any idea if n95 supports 16gb?
sowee if i ask too many questions..
October 28th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Hi Ladia, well to be honest im not sure what you mean, when you say 16gb, do you mean, Dose the n95(silver) support up to 16gb storage? if so, you can buy a 8gb Micro SD card..
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149246
as for the 16gb you could buy two.. but then you have to chop and change all the time…
October 28th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
well..they do have this 16gb microsdhc that some say is working in n95.
anyways, i’ll just buy the 8gb to safe
coz i only have the 4gb microsdhc and they map for NA NT 2009 is 4.something gb
thanks a lot..i reall appreciate ur advice

When I launch GMXT it displays that the maps have to be unlocked even though I did it before. But on the phone it wont let me input the code. Any help?
Thanks
November 6th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Hi Terry
ive seen this a few times now..
open the keygen application which you used to insert your
card id to generate the info for your SW.UNL file
on the bottom section select which maps you are using, i think i used the Europe one, but try a few if it dosnt work the first time.
then start garmin, once it asks for the code, press the button in the middle of your phone, (Selection button)
it should pop up a box were you can type in the code, once you do that hit the selection key, then press Done on the right side, that will be you, detailed maps should be on.
November 9th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Got the program installed on my N95 8GB, but i dont have the map installer. I have the Mapsource program installed, but i can’t figure out how to transfer the maps to my phone. What am I doing wrong?
November 10th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Hi, I installed everything but when I tried to Enable the first option which is Use Bluetooth GPS, it said No GPS devices found. Try again? hmm what did i do wrong? is it work only on v20? cause mine is v 30
Thank.
November 10th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
hi marty…thanks a lot…it work excellent with my nokia n82,really happy…yahooooo…thanks bro! ^.^
November 10th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
@Soren
best thing to do is check which maps file you need then using the USB cable that comes with your phone hook it up and transfer the files into your Garmin folder on the memory card.
@Jason
have you copied over the SW.UNL file which has your card id associated with garmin see the section on ‘Cracking the GPS selection so you can use the Internal GPS’, this tells you how to create your file and how to get your Card id from garmin.
@five
Fantastic, m8, what map set did you use?
November 13th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
awsome.. thanks a lot ! another n95 with free gps
November 22nd, 2008 at 3:16 pm

November 23rd, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Can somebody post an URL for the map for the uk for my symbian phone.
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:17 pm
@mii superb, welldone..
@mountanabbi
the best advice I can give would be to re-download that file, sounds as thought its a corrupt download file…
@spellcaster: the links been posted already!!
http://rapidshare.com/files/155496385/ukmap.rar.html
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:25 pm
i have installed garmin on the mobile, set gps to inbuilt etc as the moment zoomed into where i live to set home address and garmin says it does not have that detail etc. I presume theis map just sits in the route of the garmin folder. ?
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:30 pm
@spellcaster
yes m8, once you have got to that point, then what you have to do is input the 25 character code to unlock the maps which is installed..
you get this from the garminkeygen, after you’ve already made and copied over your SW.UNL file…which has your particular Card ID…
ofter you enter the unlock code for the map the maps should have the detailed maps now unlocked and you should have street level..
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:48 pm
ok i downloaded the map but it says run the setup to install the maps to C:/garmin. There is no setup with the map so am i missing some installer software etc?
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:11 pm
ok so whats files do you have currently within that download?
was it from rapidshare via the link?
if so you should have two files
gmapsupp.img
GMAPSUPP.UNL
if so copy these to your garmin folder on your phone..
ie: f:\garmin if using usb…
then start up garmin it will ask you to enter the 25 digit code to unlock..
follow steps above to do this..
and that should be you.
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:51 pm
hello again,
yes i am at the point now where it is asking for the 25 digit key, however the keygen does not have a uk map selection?
November 23rd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
yipee got it sorted thanks for all your help Marty
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:48 pm
thats fine just use the Europe selection and hit generate a few times then try it..if it fails click generate again. then try it again. it will work..
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:49 pm
fantastic m8 well done..
worth it in the end..
now all we have to do is get some links to the various voices you can get to download, ie: Ozzy, Neds, etc..
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Hello All,
If you cannot find the interal gps, what do you do from there??
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:38 pm
you have to make sure you have generated your SW.UNL file with your card id. 5th blue from the top of the page…
then take it from there..
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:49 pm
and do you delete the garmindevice.xml?
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:51 pm
try it first before hand, some users have success others don’t.
November 24th, 2008 at 2:17 am
ok.. up and running.. but cant get the maps to work now.. trying to direct me to the garmin websit. can you please advise?
November 24th, 2008 at 8:52 am
need to read the previous comments… its all there….
November 24th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Hi!
Thx for great guide!
The Garmin XT Mobile works perfectly.
Unfortunately i´m not able to find any european maps that seems to work.
I have downloaded a number of Garmin City Navigator mapsource Europe v.9 NT
And then I´ve tried the all.bat/GarminUnlocker.exe but that dont seem to do it.
After that I´ve tried the Jetmouse Keygen in Mapsource with the accurate Mapid:197 and my units card id. But that code dosent seem to unlock my maps.
Anyone know whats up?
Another bug is that i can only start the mapsource directly after I installed it (via the install-guide). If I later try to start it from the startmenu the only thing that happens is that i get a prompt that the program cant read from the registry (and it doesent start…)
Grateful for some hints!

Sorry to bother again.
But i´m just curios if anyone here got some experience from running city navigator europe 2009 on the N95?
Found an interesting torrent on pirate bay: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4497892/GARMIN_CITY_NAVIGATOR_EUROPE_2009_NT_-_FULLY_UNLOCKED_VERSION_Al
Seems easy, if it works…

Good News Paul,

Hey Marty,
first of all. thank you for this awesome website and all the time and effort you have put into this.
I got my Nokia N95 8gb 6 months and was trying everything i could to get free GPS on my phone. So was really ecstatic when i saw this site. Awesome work mate.
I followed your instructions to the book and the software installed fine. bloody beautifull.
the next thing was the maps. i am from australia. i downloaded the maps from isohunt using vuze.
the only file i could see there was a gmapsupp.img and mapid.txt. no unl file. on reading other posts and solutions i transfered the .img file to the garmin folder on the phone, created a gmapsupp.unl file and using my unit id entered the corresponding map unlock code onto the file. transfered this file to the garmin folder on the phone.
next on turning on the phone like you said it asks for a 25 digit code. no matter what i do nothing gets inputted onto the phone. all i see is 25 -
have you experienced this before. could you please tell me what i can do to get the maps working. i need help one more time to complete this mate.
cheers

Hi philip,
yea i see this all to often, when the code screen appears what to do is press the “middle” button on your navigation section.
the actual select button used’
this should take the —, and it should now change to a box much the same as when you enter a phone number, it took me a while to get there also.. but once you get this small box thats were you enter your code, after you get your code in there, that should now unlock the maps for detail level, and you should be able to zoom to street level for navigation.
good luck
November 26th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Hey Marty
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried it and let me imput the code but when i do enter the code it says ” can’t unlock for this ID”
i dont know where i am going wrong. with the gmapsupp.unl which code am i supposed to enter is it the software unlock code or the map unlock code.
also the img file that i have is Garmin City navigator australia NT 2008 the map ID is 272.
with your keygen i select the map product as city navigator australia 2008.
I dont know what NT stands for and if this is causing the problem.
could you please help me again.
cheers
Philip

@Philip
Ok, again i see this a lot, with the keygen its best to press the generate key a few times, but… on the top part of the keygen, were you enter your card id, copy your id back in generate a code for garmin, ie the list of numbers which you copy to the SWL.UL file, then with the keygen still open select your maps from the list, press generate a few times, and copy down that number, as long as you have copied over your SW.UNL file with your garmin card id key on it, the maps should unlock, after a few tries, if the first code dosnt work shut down garmin and start it up again and try another code, I think I pressed it about 5 or 6 times before it unlocked for me..
November 27th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Hey Marty,
Thanks again for the tip. from your last post this is what i did. i created a new sw.unl file and then using the id from my phone created a new software unlock code and put it in the Garmin folder of my phone. i just put in one unlock code by itself. did you want me to put more? pressed the generate key a few times to get the code.
next created a new gmapsupp.unl file and put in the map unlock code for city navigator australia 2008 in there and transfered that to the garmin folder. again pressed the generate code a few times to get this.
But everytime i enter the 25 digit map code to the phone i get the same message. unable to unlock phone for this ID
i have restarted garmin on the phone many times and i have tried different codes atleast 30 times. (was doing this at work) still no luck.
your patience must be running thin with me and i hope you are not annoyed and can help me somehow get this map working on my phone. right now i am so consumed with getting this fixed.
cheers mate
November 27th, 2008 at 9:22 am
Hey Marty
good news. Bloody excellent news i must say.
finally managed to get the maps working.
i used the key gen this time to generate a map unlock key for map id 272 instead of using the default one in the Keygen which was garmin city navigator australia 2008.
tried the 25 digit code and first time worked. sweeeet
i hope this helps others who are trying to crack the code.
I am so happy now finally after 6 months of having the phone i can use GPS for free.
no bad feelings nokia.they do make great phones but to expect us to pay $130 every year to use nokia maps for real time navigation, we must be pretty stupid coz for 300 bucks we could buy the TOMTOM unit and use it for free and for life.
and Garmin XT is heaps better than nokia maps as well. so much more features.
anyways Thanks again Marty for this fabulous website and time and effort you put in.
I shall send this site to all my friends who want GPS. time to spread the word.
cheers mate.

December 6th, 2008 at 9:30 am
I have done all things correct to install the Mobile XT symbian s60 3rd edition 42020 onto my nokia n95 8GB. The software has also identified the internal gps and the program is fine. I thought so too!!
I realised that my nokia n95 8GB cannot get a fix! it shows 1 bar and then disappear and still could not get a fix. I tried using AGPS but still not successful.
But when i use the Nokia maps, it has gps fix.
Can some kind souls tell me what is wrong.
December 6th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Hello again Marty,
I wanted to know if garmin xt can use the goto map source “maps for walkers etc” if so do you know where I can get the uk one?
December 7th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
thanks marty for all your help
just one more thing how do i get the car, tanks instead of arrow to work ive put the folder onto the phone but carnt find any options to change arrow
many thanks
December 7th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
@ Darren
Ok to get your new cars instead of using the arrow,
make sure you copy your files to right folder on your mem card.
ie: Vehicle:
start up garmin->settings->1: map->pres # then 2: vehicle
select the image from the small side scrolling list…
@spellcaster
you can select settings->3: routing-> calculate Routes for->
select pedestrain, then just using the detailed maps listed above im sure this can be used for hillwalking etc..
@bluesea
the GPS module for the n95 is located under the keypad,
the best way to get a good reception is leave the phone (slide up) open, exposing the keypad, this is the best way to get a good reception..
December 7th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
once again marty is the man
any news on different voices
December 7th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
No news yet on any voice packs, again if anyone out there has a similar pack post it and some of the other guys can port them over for the garmin.
Just now im looking into the voice packs for other popular gps software choices.. ill post back with any findings, or the packs, once there tested and have good results…
