So you’ve successfully extracted the 3 .bin files from your Lite-On drive and created your hacked firmware (Lite_CFW.bin)
Assuming you have done that and have now erased your Lite-On using Jungle Flasher and the drive is no longer recognized in Windows and the drive wont eject.
Oh No Don’t Panic! Never fear this guide is written to help you through this.
1) Make a note of your SATA port you used to read your drive keys (In this example I will use A900)
2) Create a clean bootable USB drive using http://www.abgx.net/tools/Makeboot.rar
3) Copy the DOS folder from the ixtreme_1.5 package onto the USB drive
4) Copy your Lite_CFW.bin into the DOS folder
5) Turn the power of the Lite-On drive off
6) Boot your USB drive to DOS
7) Turn the power to the Lite-On drive on
8) Type CD DOS
9) Type l-o-eras EC00 (replace EC00 with your SATA port address). You should see status FF80
10) TYpe l-o-eras EC00 (again replace EC00 with your SATA port address).
11) You should see status FF72. If not, repeat the command a few times.12) Type DOSFLASH If you are prompted to resend MTK to Vendor, press No
13) Select the number that represents your SATA port (It should have a item under it called “No Identify Possible”)
14) Press W. You may see a message saying “Unknown flash chip”, Don’t worry this is normal
15) Type DOSFLASH If you are prompted to resent MTK to Vendor, press No
16) Select the number that represents your SATA port (It should have a item under it called “No Identify Possible”)
17) Press W. You should be prompted to enter a filename
18) Type Lite_CFW.bin and press Enter
19) The drive should say “Erasing…..” followed by “Writing Bank 0….1….2….”
So there you have it, you cannot brick a Lite-On drive (as long as you have your 3 .bin files safe)

Hi, I’m at step #3. I can’t find any DOS folder in either the 1.6 or 1.51. There is however one packaged with the Makeboot.rar that you linked to. Is that what you’re talking about?
I just want to thank you for this. I stumbled upon this the last time I was having this problem with a Lite-on, and it resolved it exactly as you described. I now use this process to flash Lite-ons whenever I run across one. You don’t need to use the original firmware by the way, as long as you’ve built the modified firmware with the 3 extracted files, you can flash with that, and it works great.
hi, i have the 3 files and have done everything you explained in an attempt to boot to dos and salvage my bad erase but i cant even get my pc to boot into dos. i have tried to repair from cmd within windows and all i get is status ffff then a whole heap of freezing up.
Hi, just wana say “Thanks” for the help. Much appreciated.
For anybody who has problems, you might try, in addition to the above, the following:
A) Use the “half open tray” method before you start your PC. (Im using the xbox to power the drive)
B) Use ..\Dosflash16\DosFlash.exe version 1.8 Build 20090808 instead of the the older version
C) Use l-o-eras first. In my case, I got an error, then rebooted, still with the tray half-open, then ran dosflash.exe, got an error, then manually closed the tray and pressed the “eject” button. Tray stays closed. Then ran Dosflash with “R” and it successfuly read, with errors! I ignored the errors. Ran again, used “E”, worked. Then ran with “W” and it wrote all 4 banks with “OK” message for all banks.
Prior to this, my firmware was Liteon 1.5. Thus, backup of HAWX and Batman Arkham Asylum didnt work. After the update, both games worked fine, confirming that the firmware is updated. :-)
NOTE!!! You “MUST” use jungleflasher 0.1.70, in conjunction with the jungleflasher.pdf (v0.1.3.3b) to create your custom firmware LITE_CFW.BIN file. I had to manually create serial data, as described in the pdf.
Some additional info: PC has nForce 3 chipset (no VIA). Liteon drive is 74850C. Also, XP kept freezing up during boot, during jungleflasher, but eventully I was able to create the LITE_CFW.BIN. So, keep on trying.
Hope the above helps anyone coming across this.
Thanks buddy. First method worked fine on 64-bit Windows 7 with Intel SATA controller (Gigabyte board) just using the power from the console, no CK stuff.
i seem to not be able to make a boot disk. it will not reconize my usb when i enter the letter of it. i am using window 7 32bit
i cant make a boot disk. my computer see the usb but it wont take the letter to make it work in makeboot.bat. i am using win 7 32bit
hi, this has gave me hope for my drive. ive got it to erase and write all the banks perfect everything went fine but my drive still doesnt eject or show up in anyway, any ideas? thanks
If your certain that you have your origianl key and other files, It could be that the lazor has been burnt out, hence why it wont open / read anymore, ive had a few in the past when, During the flash process I didnt unclip the pcb from the ribbon cables and resulted in the lazor being burnt out, I replaced the pcb from another drive, started it up and it worked first time.
cracked it some how, it was completely dead still like i said so i opened jf and sent intro and it found it with status 72, flashed it first time
Hi, i just want to thank you for this guide. i’ve got my drive fixed. After i tried a few times unsuccessfully, i read the comments and changed dosflash to the 1.8 Build 20090808 version and it worked.
Thats Great news Micheal, I just keep a 1gig USB drive for all my fixes, this just has the boot files, along with l-o-eras.exe and dosflash, this dose me good evey single time.
Hi there i dont know if you can help me but I have a cruzer 2.0gb usb and when i try to boot it on your site it wont read it. do you know why?
Great Tut! helped alot :)

Im on step 10 but i can not move to 11 my drive doesn’t go to status FF72..
It keeps showing status FF80.. tried 10 times
what does that mean!??
make sure you power your drive off totaly (pull out the cable) dont just rely on a switch, then try it again, it will work eventualy
thx for reply..
i got thing figured out,,
i couldn’t get it work no matter how many power cycles but what eventually worked was mode 2 on my power module..
I never really knew what that mode switch was for but when i turned mode on & off.. i was able to flash my drive following the rest of tut..
Holy cr*p!!
This site really saved my ass!!
Workes like a charm!

so i don’t know what else can i do.can someone help me please?
Hi Julius, What methods are you using to connect your drive to your pc? are you using a tool like CK3? X360USB?
with the new jungle flasher, just hook up your drive, do straight to the mtkflash tab, and click on lite-on erase,
then follow the prompts, after the 2nd popup asking to make sure you have your key 100% etc..
wait for the command being sent, (jungleflasher log window)
turn of your drive wait 5 secs and turn it back on..
this will erase your drive, then if you have already created your custom firmware then flash that over,
or flash over your orig.bin file so its back to normal and start again..
i am using my pc to conect the drive.direct sata
cable from the pc and maximus power kit.but it still impossible to erase in jungle flashe.do you think it will help if i buy ck3?
i can not intro vendor mode, that is why i am having a problems.
I have to assume that you are using a VIA Sata Card inside your pc to connect the drive?
do you know which port this is running on?
if so look for the l-o-eras.exe file, this can be found on the likes of xbins, or google the file, once you get this, just connect it, boot your pc into DOS, then start at STEP 4, or 5 above, and this will erase your drive, then use DOSHFLASH to write your new CFW to your drive! that should be it
i know the port .it is 9c00,but i end up with ff80 i tryed 100 times , but i can not get ff72 .
Thanks you…
Great …. helped alot :)
can i do this method with x360 pro and a ck3?
Just gonna throw in my 2 cents on my problems/misunderstandings and resolutions.
Instruction says to put DOS folder from ixtreme 1.5 onto usb stick, it works easier if you cut and paste the files in the folder to the root of the usb.
Add your hacked.bin and you should have 4 files in the root of your usb stick.
when you type DOSFLASH and have to choose your device type the number instead of the port (ie. “8″ rather than “EC00″) – quite possible i was the only person dumb enough to do that ;]
my other tip for convenience is that holding f1 will retype your last command so after using l-o-eras and getting the wrong code just hold f1, enter, hold f1, enter and repeat until you get the correct status.
Also for anybody who isn’t 100% sure on their port (i messed up a few times because i didnt bother checking in iprep before going into dosflash) just type dosflash and whichever device says not recognise is the correct port, assuming youre on this page because you ‘bricked’ your lite-on so cant identift the port in JF
Many thanks and kudos for this guide
My get l-o-eras 2 gets status fff omg what should i do
Hi,
All is well with me, EXCEPT at Step 19 it freezes during “Erase…”
‘LITEON E’ erase always works.
I’ve tried most methods (l-o-eras first, in JF, etc) I can always get to the last step, but then it ALWAYS freezes (in JF it erases then freezes on the first bank write)..
Cheers,
Tom
