Metro 2033 Error X3DAudio1_7.dll or Error Side by Side Configuration is Incorrect

by

Installing Metro 2033 can be a troublesome time for some people..

With all the various configurations loaded on all the individual pc systems which are so different to each other it’s hard trying to pin-point were or how the errors occur,

This small guide will steer you in the right direction….

Most of the files you are going to need, are located in a folder called “Install” which is located inside the games installation directory.

XP:

C:\program files\THQ\Metro 2003\install

Vista

C:\program files\THQ\Metro 2033\install

Vista x64

C:\Program Files (x86)\METRO 2033\install

You Got This Error?

This application has failed to start because “X3DAudio1_7.dll” was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Resolution:

Install DirectX 11. You will find this in the “install” folder /D3D11Install/D3D11Install.exe
You can enable DirectX11 in the in game menu under options

Or this error?

“System error : D3D: Your NVIDIA driver needs to be upgraded-system can be unstable! Download latest driver from : http://www.nvidia.com/Download

Resolution:

Download the latest driver, restart the computer and you will have the error again but press ok and game will lunch…

How to fix FOV (field of view) issues:

Make these adjustments to make it more playable:

  1. Navigate to the user.cfg file – C:\Users\\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033
  2. Edit with Notepad
  3. Find the value: sick_fov 45.
  4. Change the value to sick_fov 90. (withthe period at the end)
  5. Save and close the file. And start the game!

For Black screen at startup, crashing on intro movie or can only hear sound but no video:

Resolution:

  1. If you are running on a dual monitor, unplug the secondary monitor before launching the game.
  2. If it fails to load after the first run, delete the user.cfg file from the game’s installation directory and try again.
  3. Edit user.cfg file with notepad located at X:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033 ,  r_res_hor 1920 after that,  r_res_vert 1200 (or something else), change to 1024×768

Fix freeze at loading screen, random crashes

Resolution:

Browse to the game’s installation folder and install everything inside the install folder:

  1. Install DirectX  from THQ\Metro 2033\install\DirectX and run DXSETUP.exe
  2. Install Visual C++ Runtime – Browse to THQ\Metro 2033\install\ and run vcredist_x86_sp1_atl_4053.exe
  3. Install PhysX System Software – Browse to THQ\Metro 2033\install\ and run PhysX_10.02.22_9.10.0222_SystemSoftware.exe

You need to have the PhysX libraries installed even if you own an ATI video card.

If you have Windows Vista SP1, I recommend you upgrade to Service Pack 2 and run Windows update after that, just to grab all the latest updates for that service pack also…
(with microsoft, there are always many…)

Other Info

If you are running the Razor1911 Cracked version of the game and are experiencing some of the same issues, remmeber to install each of the various applications in the install folder & copy over the entire crack folder into your install Directory..”That means open the Crack folder press Ctrl+A to select all the files and go to your installation directory and paste in the files, overwrite any files if asked to do so, and accept/allow any windows warring notices that may popup…

    @Kharem
I Did notice a few times through-out the game when certain actions were performed, funny things started to happen, the monster dogs would die, but get stuck to the wee guys leg, and it would be dragged about, also standing at doors to open, the door would make the sound of it opening, but it dosnt!.. then you try again, and it dose, as for the grenade, I did notice a little slowdown…

Me thinks the game will have an update soon..(we hope)..

    Dear Marty,
    Great page!

    However, I’m having an issue.
“This application has failed to start because “X3DAudio1_7.dll” was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

If I try to install DirectX 11 from the install directory I get:
“Direct3D 11 is present on this system. No update required.”

    Same problem, Vista 32Bit
