Splinter Cell Conviction - back to the drawing board

UK magazine Xbox World 360 is reporting that Ubisoft Montreal is unhappy enough with the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction that they’re taking it “back to the drawing board.” which means that game will not be ready until 2009/2010. According to XBW, it’s likely that the decision was made after Conviction was outdated by more recent gaming developments - most notably Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed. Ubisoft themselves have declined to comment on the story, although they will be holding their Gamer’s Day in Paris next week, so answers may be forthcoming then.
