Last night virginmedia rolled out a new update for customers who are currently on there L package, which gives you around 4mb broadband, after the update rolled out last night these customers were to receive a FREE upgrade to there 10mb service….

from the virginmedia.com website:

Broadband Size: L - up to 10Mb

It’s here! Our fastest broadband ever for L customers!

Our L tier broadband service is now up to a supersonic speed 10Mb. Even though the existing 4Mb service was already 2 times faster than similar products from other industry players, we’ve decided to step on the gas and more than double the speed!

In addition,We’ve also increased our upload speed to 512Kb.

What does this mean for customers?

To give you an idea of the new speeds, our Broadband Size: L customers will be able to download an MP3 track in 4 seconds, a full album in less than 1 minute, or an episode of their favourite TV show in just 5 minutes.

The faster upload speed of 512Kb means that customers will be able to send emails or upload photos even faster than before.

Thats all very well and good but what about all those people who are still on 20mb (me) when do we see the move to 40mb or 50mb as I’ve been told recently, (un-confirmed) although they did say august 2008 for this, well just have to wait and see…
